The project goal was to create a cohesive poster series, illustrating an image to demonstrate the qualities of the event.
Studio Work Shop
In our typography studio for this class, we were encouraged to explore different approaches to creating dynamic images. This workshop really helped open my mind up to the possible solutions to the poster.

Research
Before starting the design of the posters, it was very important to me to be familiar with each artists and their work.

Jjjjjerome Lewis is a contemplative jazz music artist. He combines spoken words in his music to create an ambient texture, and theatrical exploration. Because of his stutter, Jjjjerome chose to embrace the sound and doesn’t cover it up in his music.

Patti Smith is a punk rock artist, combining poetry with her lyrics and music. She grew up in Deptford new Jersey and was exposed to music from an early age, being influenced by artists like Harry Belafonte and Bob Dylan. One of her first albums with her musical group, Patti Smith Group, was titled Horses, and fused punk rock with spoken poetry.
Design Concepts
I started my exploration with various different concepts, all with entirely different directions.

I preferred the style of the third design the most, so I decided to take my project in that direction. I thought the distorted words were a good representation of each artist breaking out of the mold.
Workshopping
I explored different ways to portray the word "Echoes" through the printer scanners.

Ideating posters
I knew the direction I wanted to go in, and explored different variations before settling on my final choice.

Poster Series FInal
The final poster series showcases the information in a concise and visible way, without making it too obvious and in the face. The final concept also demonstrates how each artist broke out of the mold and created their own sound.
