Project Goal:
Create a magazine publication based on a culturally relevant topic. Include a wordmark and a cohesive theme across 4 different issues. Both the organization and design of the wordmark and magazine layout should consistently portray the concept of the magazine.
My Concept:
Lace:
Lace is a magazine that focuses on female athletes and their incorporation of fashion into their sport. It focuses on the achievements and impact that these women have made from their athletics as well as their style. It highlights femininity and how women in athletics can still maintain a sense of self even with restrictive uniforms.
I chose the name "LACE" as a play on words to both tying a shoe lace, as well as the dainty-feminine material that is so often seen in fashion. I thought the word was perfect to draw the two worlds together, like so many of these amazing women do.
WORDMARK:
For my wordmark, I started off my wordmark with different areas of inspiration from sports. Pulling from Nike ads, NCAA logos, and autographs. I ultimately decided to focus on something that could portray "breaking out of the mold."
